Why can't staff clock on or off because of a location error?

Fix location permission and signal problems when clocking on or off.

Key Points

  • When staff clock on or off, FlowLogic asks their phone or browser for their location. It records the location at that moment only - it doesn't track staff during the shift.

  • Location errors are almost always caused by the phone or browser: location turned off, permission not given, or a weak signal.

  • FlowLogic can't turn location on for staff. They need to allow it on their device.

  • VPNs and desktop browsers can give a wrong location. If the location shows as outside Australia, staff may not be able to submit their timesheet.

Fix a location error on a phone

  1. Turn on Location Services in the phone's settings.

  2. Allow location for the FlowLogic Workforce app, or for the browser you use for FlowLogic (for example Safari or Chrome).

  3. Set the permission to allow precise location while using the app.

  4. Close and reopen the app or browser, then try again.

  5. If the signal is weak, move outside or near a window and wait a moment before trying again.

Fix a location error on a computer

  1. When the browser asks to use your location, click Allow.

  2. If you blocked it before, click the icon at the left of the address bar and change location to Allow.

  3. Turn off any VPN, then try again.

Location shows in the wrong place

FlowLogic doesn't work out the location itself. It records whatever location the phone or browser reports. On a timesheet, the accuracy icon is green when the location is accurate to within about 10 metres, yellow from about 10 to 50 metres and red beyond 50 metres.

  • A yellow or red icon usually means a weak signal or being indoors, for example in a building or shopping centre.

  • A green icon with a location that's clearly wrong usually means a VPN was on.

  • Computers, VPNs and Microsoft Edge often give a location that's far away, sometimes overseas. If a staff member's location shows as outside Australia, they may not be able to submit their timesheet. Clocking on and off on a phone with location turned on gives the best result. On a computer, Google Chrome works best.

If a staff member is stuck on the timesheet screen, see Why can't I leave the timesheet screen after clocking off?

Still not working
